How GB2GB National Community Advice Is Funded

GB2GB National Community Advice exists to provide clear, independent guidance to people dealing with everyday problems who are unsure where to turn.

From time to time, people quite reasonably ask how the service is funded.

A modest, transparent approach

This project is supported by a small crowdfunding campaign. The purpose of that funding is simple: to cover basic operating costs so the service can remain accessible and independent.

These costs include:

  • website hosting and maintenance

  • essential software and admin tools

  • time spent preparing and maintaining guidance

There are no salaries, no profit targets, and no commercial backers.

Why crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding allows the project to remain:

  • independent — not reliant on advertisers or sponsors

  • accessible — advice remains affordable and open

  • transparent — supporters can see exactly what the funding is for

The funding target is deliberately modest. It equates to under £700 per month over three months, covering only core costs.

No rewards or incentives

This is not a commercial venture, and there are no financial or material rewards for contributions.

Support simply helps keep the service running. Some supporters prefer to remain anonymous; others are happy to be acknowledged. Both are equally welcome.

No pressure to contribute

The advice provided on the site is not dependent on donating, and there is no expectation that people using the information should contribute financially.

If the service proves useful and people choose to support it, that support helps it continue. If not, the project will be reviewed honestly and responsibly.

A shared public resource

Over time, the guidance on this site is shaped by real situations raised by members of the public. That means one person’s question can help many others facing similar issues.

In that sense, support for the project helps build a shared public resource, available to anyone who needs clarity rather than confrontation.
